People often assume I started an online business because I was bored in retirement.
The truth is a bit more interesting than that.
I’d already built a life I was proud of… and I still felt like something was missing.
I left school at 15 with no qualifications and went straight into sales. Looking back, it
was probably the best education I could have had. I learned how to communicate
with people, how to solve problems and, most importantly, how to sell.
A few years later I found myself in the music industry, and over time I built a record
company that went on to become a million-pound business. It was an incredible
journey with plenty of highs, a few lows and lessons that no business book could
ever teach you.
About ten years ago, I decided it was time for a change. I sold up, retired from the
music business and thought I’d spend the rest of my life taking it easy.
That lasted about five minutes!
The reality is that entrepreneurs don’t really retire. We like building things. We enjoy
creating opportunities, solving problems and seeing ideas become reality. After a
while, I realised I needed another challenge.
That’s when I discovered the world of online business.
Like most people, I was bombarded with adverts promising overnight riches, passive
income and secret systems that supposedly anyone could copy. The internet is full of
people selling dreams, and unfortunately many of those dreams turn into expensive
disappointments.
I made it my mission to work out what genuinely works and what doesn’t.
Today I run several affiliate businesses alongside a service business that operates
almost entirely online. Thanks to the systems I’ve built and the automation behind
them, I can run everything from virtually anywhere in the world with nothing more
than my laptop and a reliable internet connection.
That freedom has completely changed my life.
For the last five years I’ve spent most of the year travelling. I’ve worked from cafés in
Vietnam, apartments in Canada, coffee shops in Colombia, beaches in Costa Rica,
towns across Mexico and, during the winter months, my home in beautiful
Guatemala, where I escape London’s cold, grey weather.
People often ask me if I’m on holiday all the time.
Not at all.
I’m simply working in places I enjoy rather than being tied to one location. As long as
I have Wi-Fi and my laptop, business carries on exactly as normal.
These days, one of the things I enjoy most is helping other people—especially those
over 50 build businesses online.
I think people in their 50s, 60s and beyond are hugely underestimated. They have
decades of life experience, they’ve built careers, managed people, solved problems
and learned resilience. Those are valuable business skills.
What they don’t need is another flashy online guru promising they’ll make £10,000
next month by clicking a few buttons.
I’ve seen far too many good people lose thousands of pounds chasing shiny objects
that never deliver.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping people avoid the scams, recognise genuine
opportunities and build something real that can provide both income and freedom.
There are no magic formulas.
No push-button systems.
Just proven business models, patience, consistency and a willingness to learn.
If my journey has taught me anything, it’s this: you’re never too old to start again.
At 15, I started in sales.
I built a successful music business.
I retired.
Then I built an online business that has given me something even more valuable
than money – freedom.
